Demojo’s Tabloid Tuesday – Issue #21

Every week, we will be sharing news related to the advertising industry, changes coming to our favourite social media platforms, and other relevant news which might be of interest to you! Here’s this week’s top headlines:

Google Adds Social Media Posts To Google Business Listings

Google just added a new section within its Business Listings called, ‘Social Media Updates’ and this feature displays recent social media posts from our connected profiles.

Social Media Update applies to the bigger social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and so on. We can manually link our social media accounts, but sometimes Google may add social media links to eligible Business Profiles automatically. This feature helps to provide more context within the Google Business listing and generate more interest in your products or services.

Pinterest Shares New Tips On How Marketers Can Maximise Inclusion In Their Messaging

In this new day and age where staying relevant is very important, Pinterest shared with us some tips to maximise inclusion in our messaging.

Pinterest urges brands to incorporate inclusivity into every planning stage, instead of leaving it at the final stage. Besides that, we should also consider our target audience and their varying needs, so we can better formulate our messages. Our visuals also need to include different people of different cultures and ethnicities. Instead of using specific gendered pronouns, go for a much more general approach. As there’s no such thing as being a perfectly PC person 24/7. So as brands in 2024, acknowledge our mistakes and learn from them.

TikTok’s Reportedly Testing a New Instagram-Like ‘TikTok Photos’ App

If you thought we had more than enough social apps, think again. TikTok is allegedly testing a new app that mimics Instagram and is called ‘TikTok Photos’.

We know that TikTok already has a photo mode, where we can post up to 35 pictures maximum for one post. But after seeing the success of Xiaohongshu, China’s version of Instagram, TikTok owner, ByteDance is making a bigger push for this particular element.

Threads Finally Rolls Out The In-App Camera and Drafts

The in-app camera and drafts are finally rolling out for Threads. Woohoo!

Drafts are useful because if we were in the midst of typing out a post and had to exit from it, it helps us to save the post and we can get back to it whenever we want to continue. However, your Add Post button will be different. Other than that, the In-app camera can let us share photos with our friends easily now, instead of having to go through a whole process just to upload a photo on Threads.

That’s enough social news for now, so let’s move on to other marketing news.

Soft Skills Are Still Highly Sought After By Marketers Despite The AI Boom

Believe it or not, AI is bound to take over the world and our jobs. A study was done, surveying APAC employers in the marketing industry and reports show that communication skills are the most in-demand skill in the APAC region and globally.

Communication skills demands are increasing year after year, as marketers focus on nurturing customer relationships, building thought leadership, and securing budgets to build memorable brands.
